dc.description.abstract | Tunomás Honey written by New Mexican writer Jim Sagel serves the purpose of analyzing the theme of reappropriation and cultural reservation of the Chicano world through literature. In 1981 Tunonás Honey received the award “Casa Las Américas” given in La Habana, Cuba. Tunomás Honey embraces in its pages all the colouring and cultural singularity, themes and linguistics of the New Mexicans. Throughout all the collection, of short stories, Sagel reappropriates the Chicano cultural legacy and is able to preserve for future generations the experiences of the community of the north of New Mexico. Other aspects that can be emphasized in this study, other than the literary quality of the text is Sagel as a writer. Eventhough he is not Chicano by heritage, Tunomás Honey reveals the complete understanding, the personal identification and deep respect the author has for the history, culture and Chicano literature. Sagel is able to show us a vision of the Chicano world that he is part of. In the reappropriation and cultural preservation of the Chicano of New Mexico, Tunomás Honey plays an important role because it enrolls this literature in the Hispanic American literaly tradition. | en_US |
