Abstract
Future perspectives of the energy demand of the world: social focusing of a global problem This article attempts explaining the short- and long-range perspectives of energy consumption as a function of social factors such as national politics, economics and population. These are, without any doubt, dependent variables that make part of the function called energy demand. Therefore, it is important to observe how energy demand is affected by these variables. By extrapolating its values into the future we could see a delicate situation. There will be marked changes in our lifestyles because the environment in which we interact will be degraded. The extinction of fossil energy resources will force us to use technology based upon alternative energy sources. Furthermore, the harmony between us and the ecosystem will be (has already been) negatively altered.
