Abstract
The use of the Internet and digital gadgets in our daily lives has increased significantly in recent years. This explosive growth has impacted society in both a positive and negative manner. With the advancements of technology, cybercrimes, hackings, and exploiting have also increased rapidly. Therefore, the proper use of digital forensics tools is very important to investigate cybercrimes and recover data. The scope of digital forensics is not limited to personal computers and networks; smartphones, gaming consoles and smart gadgets are also vulnerable and included in the scope of digital forensics. This paper focuses on the latest forensic investigation trends and the use of five popular forensic tools. At the end a comparison is made based on the results of the experiments done.
